Magento Roadmap 2021
During its annual summit, Adobe discussed the current Magento roadmap for 2021. With the groundbreaking changes in the e-commerce sector due to the pandemic in 2020, Adobe refined its vision about commerce. According to Adobe, the future of commerce is digital-only.
Adobe’s commerce vision states that “in a future where customer experience is paramount, and all commerce is digital commerce, Adobe enables the world’s best brands to deliver the world’s best commerce experiences”.
The message is clear. Magento will be subject to continuous improvements to solidify its role as one of the leading e-commerce platforms. Updates will be provided within the five different product roadmap pillars ‘Superior Customer Experiences’, ‘Multi-Channel Commerce’, ‘Intelligent Commerce’, ‘Extensible & Integrated’, and ‘Frictionless Platform & Infrastructure’. However, Adobe’s roadmap so far is a vision that has to be supported by concrete updates in the future.
a. Modern & Extensible Headless Commerce
Magento becomes more and more headless. Adobe wants to provide the best front-end solution for specific needs while leveraging feature-rich GraphQL and REST APIs. This allows Magento businesses to continuously innovate and optimize storefront experiences as well as to achieve higher site conversion rates. Adobe aims to accelerate time to value and a lower total cost of ownership while delivering experiences that drive business results.
b. B2B & Multi-Channel Commerce
Magento’s capabilities to deliver unique B2B shopping experiences will be enhanced. The main idea of Adobe is to make it easier for B2B merchants to deliver a highly dynamic shopping experience to boost engagement and mobile conversions. AI functionalities will be implemented to support the complex requirements of business buyers.
c. Intelligent Commerce Powered by Adobe Sensei
AI is going to be an integral part of Magento commerce. Adobe made that clear throughout its summit. Highlights of this development is the upcoming implementation of visual AI product recommendations and Live Search, a cloud-based SaaS service that automatically analyzes data to deliver hyper-relevant search results. Adobe Sensei is Magento’s tool to enhance the personalization of customers’ shopping experience and at the same time optimize business performance.
d. Magento Cloud & Next Generation Platform
The future is digital. Adobe strengthens its cloud service through ongoing security, reliability, performance, and developer effectiveness improvements. In its vision, the Magento cloud solution will be a worry-free platform that boosts scalability and reliability. That all will be supported by enhanced performance. The cloud infrastructure aims to innovate and grow Magento businesses with confidence linked with a superior total cost of ownership.
e. Magento Payments
Payments will be easier, more transparent, and more secure due to a single-integration solution that provides smart pricing on every transaction as well as various fraud tools. Moreover, Adobe will provide more powerful insights into payments with centralized reporting of the end-to-end transaction lifecycle. The goal is to turn payments into a revenue driver that optimizes acceptance and operational efficiency.
